Get some style down at the gym

Gym_Bag_750pixOnce upon a time I used to find myself in the gym quite a lot – but that was quite some time ago.  However I suspect very few of us would be able to keep up with the young lady who is to be the recipient of this particular bag.

I’ve seen videos of her flying down the tumble track and frankly it is pretty amazing – her mum must watch her through the gaps in her fingers!  Not only has she won medals at national level but she has also been showing our cousins across the pond how it is done as well.  So this bag has been created especially for a special gymnast – it’s completely and totally unique – the only one of its kind anywhere in the world. I do hope she likes it.

Day 33

Day33_DrawstringbagMore of the lovely English Insults fabric from Sarah Waterhouse Textiles today.  This was specially printed for me by Sarah a couple of weeks ago in a gorgeous deep plum colour.  I love the yellow but I think this has to be my favourite so far.

This drawstring bag is very similar to the washbag that I made for Kitty a little while ago but it’s about 20% bigger.  Very useful if you want to take the whole bathroom cabinet away on holiday with you, or for packing those gorgeous shoes for a special weekend away.  It is lined with lightweight calico and can be handwashed gently should you get it a little grubby.

On with the last few challenges now – what will I do with myself when I am finished!

Day 23

Day23_springtoteIf you have been following the pages on Facebook you’ll know that although this bag looks deceptively simple it has in fact taken quite a long time to make.  This is because it is machine quilted, but I chose to do it around each of the individual flowers and it seemed to be a never ending task.

The bag is held closed by the strings of beads but I have added a button and loop for additional security.  And there is a handy little secret pocket on the inside.  This is the same dsign as the bag I use every day and it’s a veritable tardis.

I seem to have fallen a little behind schedule so I had better get a move on.  The dog did eat a couple of my projects though – honest!
