Day 7

Makeup PurseDespite slight delays with pictures and what not, Day 7 is finally here. Made out of dark blue and pink fabric, this purse is perfect for holding makeup, hairbands and all kinds of things. Cat also makes smaller versions of these purses, which you may have seen on her facebook page. The purse features a lovely pink lining, and the zip makes it super practical to take anywhere. This is definitely one of my favourite makes so far.

Day 6

TNeedlefelt Doglethose of you who are familiar with the Mollie Makes magazine, you may remember the article in the thirteenth issue which inspired the make for today. These fantastically cool creations are the work of Gretel Parker, a children’s illustrator who began her needlefelting journey just four years ago. Her toys are now collected worldwide. Armed with her needlefelting kit and her Mollie Makes magazine, Cat set about creating one of these fun little characters as her sixth make 0f the challenge. This is the second time Cat has attempted a little doglet, and we think she’s getting fab at needlefelting. Her first creation presides on Kitty’s desk at home, but it didn’t take long for Kid to kidnap the next edition to the collection. To see more of Gretel Parker’s designs, pop over to www.gretelparker.com. Look out for Day 7 of the Make for Lent challenge, coming soon to a blog near you.

From Kitty and Doglet, it’s over and out for now.

See you next time.

Day 5

Round Pouffe CushionToday’s make is a colourful round cushion. Similar to an elongated pouffe, this cushion has been created out of strips of vibrant printed fabrics, not to mention that it’s super fun to hug. Cat, ever the perfectionist, doesn’t think it’s quite right, but I think it’s fabulous. What are your thoughts? Do you like pouffe cushions? Feel free to leave any suggestions for us. Until next time…

Day 4

Baby Elephant QuiltThe fourth make of our Lent challenge is an Elephant themed baby quilt. The quilt features a strip of elephant printed fabric in assorted colours,in addition to star scattered squares. A perfect memento for any baby, this quilt will keep newborns snuggly and warm with its fleece backing. This quilt is soon off to a new home, and we hope it will give its new owner will enjoy it as much as Cat enjoyed making it.

Day 3

Nine-Patch BiscornuThe make for the third day of our Make for Lent challenge is an adorable Nine-Patch Biscornu. This cute little item is a pincushion sewn from two offset squares that form an eight sided shape, and is aptly named after the French word biscornu, which means odd, bizarre or irregular. Isn’t it sweet? We think this handy pincushion would also be great as a larger, cushion version of itself. What do you think? Would you like a Biscornu cushion?

Day 2

Turquoise BagOnwards with our Lenten challenge – and today sees the creation of a pretty and practical shoulder bag.

Made from a lovely green and gold scalloped fabric with a useful interior pocket, it’s a very beautiful addition to any wardrobe.

I’ve made this pattern before in the same size and a little bit smaller and it’s one of my favourites.  Over time it has evolved so that now the front flap sits snuggly in the back of the main bag.

Day 1

Day 1-Heart NotebookThe Heart Notebook

Despite a rushed ten-minute sewing session, resulting in a slightly skewed heart, this little pink heart notebook turned out rather nicely. Using scrap fabrics from a tie-dying session with a pack of Beavers, the first day of Make for Lent has concluded with a sweet ‘shabby chic’ lined book for me to get writing in with my new quill.
